Our history
Karl August Mohr began his apprenticeship as an agate and diamond cutter in Mackenrodt near Idar-Oberstein in 1907.
After serving as a soldier in the First World War, he founded a gemstone-cutting business in 1921, specializing in the cutting of quartz and agates – the start of a tradition that lives on to this day.

Milestones
A journey through four generations
The Beginning
Karl August Mohr begins his apprenticeship as an agate and diamond cutter in Mackenrodt near Idar-Oberstein.
Founding
Founding of the gemstone cutting business. Specialization in cutting quartz and agate.
A New Direction
The focus shifted to diamond cutting. His son Günther expanded the business to include the trade and cutting of colored gemstones.
International Contacts
Günther marries Gudrun Schuhmacher. Together, they establish valuable international contacts in South America, Sri Lanka, and Africa.
3rd Generation
Thomas Mohr, the son of Gudrun and Günther, joins the family business.
New Strength
Thomas is marrying Martina Diederichs, who brings international experience to the marriage thanks to her work at the Federal Foreign Office.
4th generation
Nicolas Mohr, the son of Thomas and Martina, officially joins the company after completing his business administration studies in Trier and Copenhagen. He then completes an apprenticeship as a gemologist at the German Gemmological Society in Idar-Oberstein.

- The company’s own gemstone cutters enable individual production and a high degree of flexibility.
- We travel throughout Germany and neighboring countries each week, presenting a high-quality collection of colored gemstones. Appointments to view our collection can be arranged at any time.
- Our office is available Monday to Friday and is happy to assist with any inquiries.
- A large showroom at our premises provides a comprehensive overview of our product range and craftsmanship.
